The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Patrick Mugoya held a bilateral meeting with Italian Ambassador H.E. Dominico Fornara at the Ministry head quarters this morning.

They discussed various issues of bilateral cooperation as well as regional matters. Amb. Fornara said that for Italy which is a non-permanent member of the UNSC tackling of root causes of forced migration as well as development of policies that can prevent these situations is a priority.

Migration is an important issue for Italy given that there are 40 million people of Italian descent around the world of whom 5 million still hold Italian passports. Italy does not believe in the philosophy of putting up walls to stop migration and this will be a key message his country puts out there during the 5th Africa-EU Summit in November 2017, Abidjan.
