UGANDA HIGH COMMISSION DAR-ES-SALAAM OFFICIALLY OPENS REFURBISHED CHANCERY BUILDING

The newly renovated Chancery building opened by Ambassador Dorothy Samali Hyuha, Uganda's High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania.

A newly renovated Chancery building of the Uganda High Commission in Dar-Es-Salaam was officially handed over to the Government of Uganda, on Thursday 30th March 2017. The Chancery which is located on Plot 25 Msasani Road in Oysterbay, Dar-es-Salaam has been undergoing renovation over the past one year.

The Chancery building which has been modernized and expanded now has more offices, a conference room, and modifications for access for persons with disabilities. It is equipped with a modern fire detection system, fire-fighting equipment and 24 hour CCTV surveillance service.

The building was officially received by Ambassador Dorothy Samali Hyuha, Uganda High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania. Kagisa Enterprises, the Contractor, handed over the building following an assessment by the Consultant which declared the project successfully completed.

Also present at the handover ceremony was Hon. Amos Lugolobi, Chairman Budget Committee of Parliament, Hon.  (Col.) Felix Kulaigye, UPDF Member of Parliament and Member of the Budget Committee, Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Ministry of Works and Transport as well as staff of the Uganda High Commission in Dar-es-Salaam.

In her remarks at the handover ceremony, Ambassador Hyuha said she was very happy that the project was successfully undertaken. The building she said, now gives the High Commission more office space and projects a good image of Uganda in the United Republic of Tanzania. She praised her staff for their hard work, cooperation and dedication which made the project successful. She also paid tribute to her predecessors Amb. Norah Lema Katabarwa, who was Ag. High Commissioner for her role during the initiation of the project.

Expressing pleasure at the improvement in the office conditions, Mr Oscar Edule, the Head of Chancery said that the Mission has embarked on the procurement for Phase two of the Project. Phase two of the project will cover the improvement and modification of the perimeter wall, construction of an entry barrier and gate, guard house, Consular Section, landscaping and parking lot.
