DELEGATION FROM THE NIGERIAN DEFENSE FORCE COLLEGE BRIEFED ON UGANDA'S FOREIGN POLICY AND FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM

A delegation of Army Officers from the Nigerian Defense Force College on a visit in Uganda themed, Fight Against Terrorism and Insurgence - Lessons from Uganda, visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation led by Brigadier General Bolaji Nicodemus Salami, was received at the Ministry headquarters by Uganda's High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amb. Nelson Ocheger and Director Uganda Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs (UIDIA), Dr. Sam Omara.

In his remarks, Amb. Nelson Ocheger told the delegation that Uganda and Nigeria have good historic relations that have grown from strength to strength. "Egbert Udo Udoma was Uganda's first Chief Justice during the colonial times from 1963 to 1969"

He further stressed that Nigeria is to be sure of Uganda's cooperation in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

Director UIDIA, briefed the delegation on Uganda's Foreign Policy & its impact to the fight against terrorism. Dr. Omara referred to Uganda's Foreign Policy as a soft power tool for promoting the National Interests of Uganda.

He said Uganda's Foreign Policy covers an extensive ground inclusive of commercial and public diplomacy. Dr. Omara also illustrated the technicalities involved in execution of Uganda's Foreign Policy.

The Nigerian Delegation expressed gratitude for being hosted by the MOFA and presented a token of appreciation to Director UIDIA for a fruitful presentation.
