UGANDA HOSTS 9TH HIGH-LEVEL MEETING OF THE REGIONAL OVERSIGHT MECHANISM OF THE PEACE, SECURITY AND COOPERATION FRAME WORK FOR THE DRC AND THE REGION

The Heads of State and Government of the signatory countries of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Frame work for the Democratic Republic of Congo held the ninth High-level meeting of the Regional Oversight Mechanism on 08th October 2018 In Kampala. 

The meeting was convened by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda with support of the Guarantor institutions that included the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the international conference on Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Participants reviewed the political and security developments in the region and the progress in the implementation of the PSC Frame work since their last meeting held in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo 19 October 2017.

The meeting endorsed the annual activity report as approved by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs/ External relations in their meeting on the 6 October 2018 and the recommendations included the request by H.E President Yoweri kaguta Museveni of Uganda to lead efforts to address displacement I the region and H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya to lead efforts to promote good governance and combat corruption.

UGANADA HANDS OVER 70 EX-23 COMBATANTS TO DRC, 27th-February 2019

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of Government of the Republic of Uganda on 26th Febuary 2019, facilitated the repatriation of over 70 EX-23 Combatants  and 10 dependants to  the Government of the Republic of the Democratic of Congo. The Ceremony took place at Entebbe International Airport.
