UGANDA - UAE BUSINESS CONFERENCE CONCLUDES ON A PROMISING NOTE

In pursuit of the Commercial & Economic  Diplomacy strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in the United Arab Emirates hosted  a   team of 14 Business Executives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who attended the "Uganda - UAE  Business  Conference" that was held at Hotel Africana  in  Kampala from 24th - 28th February 2019. 


The main objective of this Conference  was to woo Investors that can help grow Uganda’s economy and provide jobs and contribute to the overall development and transformation of Uganda.


Officials from Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Export Promotions Board (UEPB) to mention but few are some of the lined up who addressed the Participants at the in various interactive Pannel Sessions.


The visiting Delegation from UAE comprised of Officials from Companies in sectors such as agriculture, automotive products, packaging, construction, industrial supplies, oil and gas, lubricants, electricals, energy, solar, pharmaceuticals, tours and travel real estate and telecommunications.


Speaking at the Media briefing that was held on 28 / 2 / 2019 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Zaake KIBEDI, noted that the UAE is considered a preferred trade partner for Uganda, since it is considered one of the largest suppliers of goods and services to both countries, in addition to being a major source of oil. 


The Ambassador further reiterated that Uganda’s economy, continues to achieve remarkable growth rates, and has become a prominent trading partner with the UAE thus the relevance of this Business conference.


The Delegation had fruitful engagements with Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda, Prime Minister other Cabinet Ministers of the Republic of Uganda facilitated by Hon. Okello Oryem Minister of State for Foreign Affairs International Affairs, Over 200 young Entrepreneurs actively involved in upcoming Small scale businesses, Officials from Uganda Investment Authority to mention but a few.


Amb. Zaake noted the enthusiastic participation and vigorous engagement of the various Ministries, Departments & Agencies in the B2B meetings with the visiting Delegation which will positively result in a meaningful business partnership, for the mutual benefit of both Uganda and UAE.


The Delegation concluded their visit with an excursion visit to the Source of the Nile in Jinja to explore the scenic beauty, Uganda the Pearl of Africa has to offer.

UGANADA HANDS OVER 70 EX-23 COMBATANTS TO DRC, 27th-February 2019

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of Government of the Republic of Uganda on 26th Febuary 2019, facilitated the repatriation of over 70 EX-23 Combatants  and 10 dependants to  the Government of the Republic of the Democratic of Congo. The Ceremony took place at Entebbe International Airport.
