HONOURABLE SAM KUTESA, RECIEVES COPIES OF LETTERS OF CREDENTIALS FROM SRI LANKA AND THAILAND ENVOYS, 14/8/2019, KAMPALA

Hon. Sam K. KUTESA, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda today received copies of credentials from two new envoys to Uganda at the Ministry Headquarters in Kampala.

The Diplomats included Sri Lanka's High Commissioner-designate H.E Weerawardena Sunil Dharmasena DE SILVA and H.E Cherdkiat ATTHAKOR, the Kingdom of Thailand's incoming Ambassador.

Hon. Kutesa welcomed the Diplomats and commended the excellent relations existing between Uganda and their respective countries.

The new Thai Ambassador presented his letters of credence to Hon. Kutesa ahead of an anticipated business mission from Thailand to Uganda in October this year for the Agriculture trade fair. In this regard, Ambassador Atthakor raised the need to have Trade and Investment protection, and Double Taxation Agreements signed between the two countries. He also stressed the desire to work together in promoting the Education Sector and combating Human Trafficking.

Speaking after presenting his credentials, H.E De Silva, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner conveyed his country's readiness to foster the cordial relations that exist with Uganda. He further mentioned Sri Lanka's eagerness to cooperate in sectors such as Trade, Education and Sports.

In conclusion Hon. Kutesa assured the envoys of his and the Ministry's commitment to working closely with them to boost bilateral cooperation between their countries and Uganda.

Presidents Museveni, Kenyatta discuss sugar trade, August 28, 2019 , 29th-August 2019

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN: President Yoweri Museveni has today met and held a bilateral meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya on the sidelines of TICAD 7 conference in Yokohama, Japan during which the two leaders discussed the issue of sugar and sugarcane exports to Kenya.
