VISIT BY DELEGATION FROM NATIONAL DEFENSE COLLEGE, MIRPUR, BANGLADESH TO UGANDA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda today had the honour of hosting a high-level delegation from the National Defense College, Mirpur, Bangladesh, currently undertaking a study tour in Uganda. The 14-member delegation, led by Group Captain B M Hassan Mahmud, afwc, psc, GD(p), arrived in Uganda on the 8th of September 2024 as part of their Armed Forces War Course 2024.


The study tour, scheduled to conclude on the 14th of September 2024, aims to deepen the delegates’ understanding of Uganda's foreign policy, defense cooperation, and overall governance structures. Today, the delegation visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they were received with warm hospitality. During their visit, Dr. Sam Omara, Minister Counsellor Regional Economic Cooperation Department, delivered an insightful lecture on Uganda’s foreign policy, highlighting the country’s strategic diplomatic engagements and its role in regional and global peace and security initiatives.


As part of their study tour, the delegation has engaged with officials at the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs, visited the National Enterprise Corporation, and explored Uganda’s strategic sectors related to national development and security. On September 13 th , the delegation will proceed to Jinja for a tour aimed at gaining further insights into Uganda’s industrial and military capacity. This visit underscores the long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship between Uganda and Bangladesh, and we look forward to deepening our cooperation in various spheres, including defense and diplomacy.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commends the delegation for choosing Uganda as a destination for their study tour and reaffirms its commitment to fostering strong ties between the two nations.
