Kampala, Uganda .October 2, 2023 today, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hon. John Mulimba, held a meeting with H.E. Ms. Nwanne Vwede-Obahor, the UNDP Resident Representative in Uganda, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters in Kampala. Ms. Vwede-Obahor informed the Minister that UNDP had secured funding for the Uganda project: “Strengthening Capacities for Disaster Risk Management and Resilience Building”, which will focus on Busia Municipality.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation, Hon. John Mulimba, today received Dr. Robin Nandy, the new UNICEF Representative to Uganda, who officially presented his credentials at a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala. In his remarks, Hon. Mulimba warmly welcomed Dr. Nandy to Uganda and acknowledged UNICEF’s unwavering partnership in promoting the health, education, and well-being of children in Uganda.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, today signed the Host Country Agreement with the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA) to formally establish the African Water and Sanitation Academy in Uganda. This landmark agreement positions Uganda as the headquarters for the Academy, further solidifying the country’s commitment to addressing water and sanitation challenges on the continent.

The Second Uganda-Mozambique Joint Permanent Commission kicked of this morning at the Mestil Hotel in Kampala and will run from Monday September 16th to Thursday September 19th 2024. Ambassador Richard Kabonero, Head of Regional Economic Cooperation at Uganda's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and Mozambique as the second session of the Uganda-Mozambique Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) kicked off today.
