The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda is pleased to announce that the Honorable General Odongo Jeje Abubakher, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a constructive meeting today with His Excellency Xavier Sticker, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to the Republic of Uganda. The meeting took place at the esteemed Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Kampala.

MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, HON. GEN ODONGO JEJE ABUBAKHER RECEIVES CREDENTIALS FOR MRS. NWANNEAKOLAM VWEDE-OBAHOR, AS UNDP RESIDENT REPRESENTATIVE TO UGANDA

On February 27^th 2024, H.E Maria Hakansson, Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Uganda, met with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs, Hon. John Mulimba,  at the Ministry Headquarters.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the bilateral relations between Uganda and Sweden and explore areas of mutual cooperation.

H.E. Malik Agar, the Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of the Sudan, this afternoon, led a delegation to meet and deliver a special message from H.E. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of the Sudan, to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House, Entebbe. President Museveni reiterated his message to the fighting forces in Sudan, urging them to cease fire, hold peaceful elections, and grant power to the people of Sudan to elect their own leaders.

The 3 rd edition of the Uganda-EU Business Forum will be held between 5 th and 6 th March, 2024 at Speke Resort, Munyonyo in conjunction with Private Sector for Foundation Uganda, Uganda Investment Authority and the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development.

On 15 February 2024, Uganda was re-elected to the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC) during the 44th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council for a second two-year term from 2024-2026, edging out Ethiopia and Eritrea. East Africa had four candidates for the two seats up for grabs. Tanzania won re-election for the second East African seat. It is significant to note that Uganda has been elected five times previously and has served in the PSC for a total of 11 years so far. This two-year re-election will make a total of 13 years.

Honorable John Mulimba, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Affairs, on Thursday February 15th, hosted a diplomatic engagement with Mr. Joe Dashley, Political Counsellor of the British High Commission at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions focused on efforts to foster peace and security within the region amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics. Both parties had constructive dialogue aimed at addressing pressing regional challenges and advancing collaborative strategies for sustainable peace.
